Michigan counties, cities, townships and villages are getting a combined $4.4 billion from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
And most have gotten their first round of money. Counties and metro cities received the first half of funds last spring from the federal government, while the state has been dispersing the rest to smaller municipalities. So far, 96.5% of the smaller cities, townships and villages have gotten their first payment.
