The first serious winter storm of 2021 is taking aim at New Jersey this weekend, with forecasters calling for 8 to 12 inches of snow to cover parts of the state.
Along the Jersey Shore, high winds — up to 40 to 50 mph — could bring crashing waves, beach erosion and coastal flooding.
But how much snow will your town get in the next 48 hours? And when is it going to start?
Using data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, we’ve created a map where you can see what to expect over the next 48 hours, based on the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.
(Note: The heaviest snow is forecast to fall Monday, so the totals in the map below aren’t accounting for the full storm, just the start of it.)
Enter your town in the search bar to get an up-close look. Press the play button to watch how the storm is forecast to overtake the region.

The map above contains data that is updated every six hours. You can check back with this post Saturday night and Sunday morning to see if the forecast has changed.
