The Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots have grown to nearly $1.6 billion combined for some of the largest lottery prizes in U.S. history.
The next Mega Millions drawing is Tuesday night with an estimated grand prize of $865 million; the cash option is worth $638.8 million. It’s the second-largest jackpot in the game’s history after a $1.537 billion ticket was sold in 2018.
Meanwhile, Powerball has grown to $730 million, one of the game’s five largest jackpots ever, with a cash option estimated at $546 million. Powerball has gone without a winner since Sept. 16, when a ticket worth $94.6 million prize was sold in New York; the next drawing is Wednesday night.
It’s the first time both lottery jackpots have topped $700 million.
The odds of winning are 1 in 292.2 million for the Powerball jackpot and one in 302.5 million for Mega Millions. Both games are played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C.
Mega Millions is drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. ET.
Powerball drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET.
