LA Dodgers, with too much of everything, will repeat as World Series champs: Paul Hoynes - cleveland.com

GOOYDEAR, Ariz. – The 60-game sprint last season was just that, but it was long enough to give the Dodgers the momentum they needed to win their first World Series since 1988. This season is scheduled for a traditional 162 games, but that is not going to deter the Dodgers from winning their second straight World Series title.

In baseball, sometimes the best team doesn’t win, but the Dodgers have too much of everything to be denied. If they don’t, they have the means to go out and get it.

In the American League, the Yankees have a great lineup, but a suspect starting rotation behind Gerrit Cole. The Rays went to the World Series last year and they have more than enough to repeat as AL East champs. But I think the Yankees will come through the wild card round to take them down in the ALCS.

The Twins, after signing J.A. Happ, Matt Shoemaker and Andrelton Simmons, should repeat as AL Central champs with a close challenge from the wild card White Sox. The Indians, whose offense remains a problem, will finish third. What remains of the garbage-can banging Astros will win the AL West.

The ALCS will be an all AL East affair between the Yankees and Rays. The Yankees will get revenge after losing last year’s ALDS in five games to the Rays.

The NLCS will be a repeat of 2020 when the Dodgers beat the Braves in seven games.
