DENVER — Ready for more snow?
Don't expect a two-day dumping as we saw on Thursday and Friday, but the Denver area could get up to another 4 inches by the end of the weekend — and the mountains will only continue to get more powder, as an avalanche warning remains in effect.
Here's what to expect — and when — for our third snow storm of the week:
Timeline
Saturday in Denver will actually be similar to what we saw for most of January: Mild temps around 50 degrees, with dry and sunny conditions. But another cold front moves into the state tonight, spreading snow south over the mountains and into the Denver area late Saturday, according to the National Weather As the temperatures drop, expect roads to become slicker late Saturday night and early Sunday.
The snow should begin in the Denver area some time overnight and into early Sunday, and continue throughout the day. We're not expecting the heavy banded snow we saw on Thursday and Friday, but the snow showers could be consistent across the metro.
The snow will move to the west of Denver by Sunday evening, but more snow showers are possible for Monday evening.
In the mountains, the snow returns Saturday afternoon and will continue through Sunday.
How much to expect
The National Weather Service has Denver's expected snowfall total through Sunday at just an inch, though the snowfall amounts across the metro could range from 1-4 inches, with higher amounts toward the foothills. In the mountains, Vail is expected to get another 7 inches of snow, and pockets of the high country along I-70 could see up to an additional foot of powder.
