#20 Washington (0-0) vs. Montana (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 5:00 PM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Watchability Score: The Huskies are involved so 10 out of 10 (Non-UW fan score 1/10). Montana is the preseason #9 team in the FCS. They are not a moribund program. But the talent mismatch should become very apparent quite quickly and if you aren’t a fan of Washington you’ll almost certainly be tuned in to the top-5 matchup of recruiting powers that happens to be going on simultaneously.

Other Pac-12 Games

Weber State (0-0) at #24 Utah (0-0)

Date: Thursday, September 2nd

Time: 4:30 PM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Watchability Score: 1 out of 10. Unfortunately you can’t even say this is a scouting opportunity because Washington doesn’t play Utah in the regular season this year. It’s Week 1 Thursday football so we’re desperate but this should be a blowout quickly.

Southern Utah (0-0) at Arizona State (0-0)

Date: Thursday, September 2nd

Time: 7:30 PM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Watchability Score: 2 out of 10. You do get to use this one as an eventual scouting opportunity. There’s also the palace intrigue with the swirling investigations in Tempe that adds to my curiosity. But another blowout.

Northern Colorado (0-0) at Colorado (0-0)

Date: Friday, September 3rd

Time: 6:00 PM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Watchability Score: 1 out of 10. Can we get to a freaking FBS vs. FBS matchup already? Scouting opportunity? Yes. Blowout? Also yes. Score? 1.

Stanford (0-0) vs. Kansas State (0-0) [Neutral site- Arlington, TX]

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 9:00 AM PT

TV: FS1

Streaming: Foxsports.com/live

Betting Line: Stanford (+2.5), O/U 53. Expected Score: KSU- 28, Stanford- 25.

Watchability Score: 5 out of 10. That’s what I’m talking about! Kind of. Stanford had to replace almost their entire offense from last year except for RB Austin Jones so it’s tough to know what to expect from them. They’re keeping their starting QB battle quiet up until kickoff between Tanner McKee and Jack West. This is #64 at #61 in the preseason SP+ rankings so neither is likely to be outright bad but neither is likely to contend for a conference title. Still, it’s the best Pac-12 game we’ve seen so far.

Fresno State (1-0) at Oregon (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 11:00 AM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Betting Line: Oregon (-20.5), O/U 63.5. Expected Score: Oregon- 42, Fresno State- 22.

Watchability Score: 7 out of 10. True this isn’t a matchup of power conference teams but Fresno State has become an unofficial partner of Husky athletics after taking QB Jake Haener and WR Ty Jones from the transfer portal. They’ve got a potentially explosive offense that dominated UConn in Week 0 (yes, it’s UConn but still). I’m sure the Ducks would love to stay vanilla ahead of the Ohio State matchup but Fresno’s offense might be too good to allow them to do that. Such a shame.

San Jose State (1-0) at USC (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 2:00 PM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Betting Line: USC (-14), O/U 59.5. Expected Score: USC- 37, San Jose State- 23.

Watchability Score: 5 out of 10. This is a pretty familiar story with a 1-0 Mountain West team taking on a presumptive Pac-12 division favorite. San Jose State won the MWC last year in the shortened 2020 season but I’m a lot more personally invested in Fresno State so this takes the watchability down a couple notches for me.

Oregon State (0-0) at Purdue (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 4:00 PM PT

TV: FS1

Streaming: Foxsports.com/live

Betting Line: Oregon State (+7), O/U 67.5. Expected Score: Purdue- 37, Oregon State- 30.

Watchability Score: 6 out of 10. This isn’t going to move the needle nationally for the conference if Oregon State wins this but it’s the kind of potential win that ends up mattering long-term. Purdue is picked to finish in the middle of the Big 10 but if Oregon State can win this game on the road it’s a big sign that they will continue to be a pain in the butt throughout the Pac-12 schedule. Go Beavs.

#16 LSU (0-0) at UCLA (1-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 5:30 PM PT

TV: FOX

Streaming: Foxsports.com/live

Betting Line: UCLA (+3), O/U 66. Expected Score: LSU- 35, UCLA- 31.

Watchability Score: 8 out of 10. After UCLA stomped down Hawai’i last weekend it has the country waiting with baited breath to find out if that’s because UCLA is resurgent of if Hawai’i is just awful. Hey, why not both? LSU is 2 years removed from a national title and has a ton of talent but is coming off a disastrous 2020 season. If the Bruins are able to pull the upset you can be sure that UCLA will be considered a true contender in the South and it will really help the conference’s national stock.

Nevada (0-0) at California (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 7:30 PM PT

TV: FS1

Streaming: Foxsports.com/live

Betting Line: Cal (-3), O/U 52.5. Expected Score: Cal- 28, Nevada- 25.

Watchability Score: 5 out of 10. Nevada were the media poll favorites in the Mountain West so it wouldn’t exactly be completely shameful if Cal lost this game. Except they’re still favored and Arizona is basically the only team in the conference who can lose a game to the MWC this year and not have it damage the conference’s reputation in the slightest.

BYU (0-0) at Arizona (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 7:30 PM PT

TV: ESPN

Streaming: Espn.com/watch

Betting Line: Arizona (+12.5), O/U 54. Expected Score: BYU- 33, Arizona- 20.

Watchability Score: 3 out of 10. I’m at least a little bit curious to see whether Jedd Fisch has turned this program around after doing just about everything right during the offseason. I also want to know how BYU looks without Zach Wilson and I’ll be rooting for Puka Nacua even if I miss him greatly.

Utah State (0-0) at Washington State (0-0)

Date: Saturday, September 4th

Time: 8:00 PM PT

TV: Pac-12 Networks

Streaming: Pac-12.com/live

Betting Line: WSU (-17), O/U 67. Expected Score: WSU- 42, Utah State- 25.

Watchability Score: 3 out of 10. This game avoids a 1 because there’s a chance that the Cougars amidst all of the distractions in their program are a tire fire and Coug this game. But the Aggies are supposed to be terrible this year (104th in SP+) so that doesn’t seem particularly likely.

Adblock test (Why?)
