HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Today will be a nicer day with more sunshine and less wind. It’ll still be a bit breezy with 10 to 20 mph winds out of the north in Eastern Nebraska, but as you go west, the winds will be lighter. Late in the day, clouds will begin to thicken from the west. High temperatures today will mostly be in the mid 60s. Cloud cover will be on the increase tonight. Perhaps there could be some late night sprinkles or light rain moving from Western into Central Nebraska.
Temperatures will drop into the upper 30s and low to mid 40s with the chilliest temperatures east.
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue into Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, winds will become breezy out of the south and southwest at 10 to 20 mph. As the day goes on, a cold front will move in from the northwest. Behind that front, winds will take a northwesterly turn. Near the front, a few more showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible. While severe weather is unlikely, storms may be strong enough to produce some small hail and strong winds gusts. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms may still around Wednesday night into very early Thursday morning. Highs on Wednesday will mostly be in the mid to upper 60s. There may be a few spots in the west that get above 70°. A skies clear up later Wednesday night, temperatures will drop back into the mid 30s to mid 40s from northwest to southeast. So some patchy frost may again be possible in our northwest communities.
Nicer weather returns on Thursday with more sun and not as much wind. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s and lower 70s with the warmest temperatures out west. Lows will mostly be in the 40s Thursday night.
There’s a small chance for rain Friday as a warm front lifts northeast through the area. Breezy southeast winds will help push temperatures back to near and above average. Highs will range from the upper 60s northeast to the lower 80s southwest. The chance for rain and isolated thunderstorms will increase Friday night through Saturday night. While it’s too early to say, if storms materialize, some severe storms would be possible. With a cold front coming in from the north, there will be a wide range in temperatures. Highs could range from as cool as the mid 50s north to the mid 70s south.
Some slight chances for rain will continue Sunday and Monday, but much of the area will likely stay dry much of the time. Expect a cool start to next week. Highs on Sunday will mostly be in the 50s with a few lower 60s possible. On Monday, similar temperatures are expected.
