Cast, crew of film being shot in Fort Wayne "surprised" how much they like it - Fort Wayne's NBC

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Fort Wayne's NBC) -- We got a sneak peek at the filming of a Hollywood movie being shot at the Allen County courthouse downtown where the cast and crew raved about their experiences.

Is it something that could attract more films and projects to the city?

"I love it here so far. The crew, the cast, we've all been talking about, wow, this place is not what we were thinking. This is great," line producer Ryan Binse said.

Every person we spoke with on the cast and crew of the film "The Wedding Pact 2" said how surprised they were with their first trip to Fort Wayne.

"In Los Angeles, everyone has this idea of the Midwest being slow or boring, but this place is modern, it's clean, people are nice. People say hi to me on the sidewalk. I'm like, oh that's so cool! And then the food is beyond amazing," Binse said.

"I do have a view of the stadium, so I got to watch half of a baseball game from my hotel room. Minor league baseball. Love it! It's a lot of fun. I went and bought a hat," lead actor Connor Trinneer said.

Cast and crew filming "The Wedding Pact 2" in Fort Wayne raved about their time in the city.

With Trinneer, the film stars actress and singer Haylie Duff, and is a sequel to 2014's "The Wedding Pact," where two college friends agree to marry each other in 10 years if they haven't married anyone else.

In addition to being impressed with the city, including how clean they say downtown is -- unlike the homeless encampments they routinely see all over Los Angeles -- the other stunner for them has been the architecture of the Allen County courthouse.

Binse says when he scouted the location, he was blown away.

"This is like an 11 out of 10. This is amazing. It's something that I feel like I'd find on a set on a soundstage, but to see this in real life and experience the depth of it, it's cool. It's like I'm on vacation traveling," he marveled.

"I've never shot in any courthouse like this. I don't think I've ever seen a courthouse quite like this. It's really unbelievable. Do you know when it was built? 1902, I believe. Yeah, it seems like that. I mean, this thing's not going anywhere.," Trinneer added.

In fact, Binse says he likes Fort Wayne as a location so much, he wants to talk with the state about more film incentives to attract productions here.

The cast and crew will be back in Fort Wayne for the premiere this fall.

The movie is being shot in Judge Wendy Davis's courtroom.

She says she's grateful that attorneys and other judges have been able to adjust their own court calendars to accommodate the filming and provide flexibility and space for her to hear cases on her docket.

The film also stars three-time Emmy Award-nominee Gail O'Grady, who you might remember from her starring role on "NYPD Blue," as well as Kevin Farley, who's the younger brother of the late comedian Chris Farley.
