One of my connections is Leon Ho, the founder and CEO of Lifehack. I’ve been personally inspired by what Leon calls the Full Life Framework, a tool he uses to help others live a full life and live one himself. The idea came to fruition as a result of his prolific work as a project manager and the birth of Lifehack itself.

I wanted to share some of the principles of this framework and how it can help entrepreneurs be more successful. These principles are called life multipliers, and they help you accomplish more in life.

The 8 Life Multipliers: A Quick Overview

The meaning behind the term “life multipliers” is pretty straightforward. By leveraging the eight attributes described below, you’ll have an opportunity to multiply the value you get out of life. I’ve found that all eight are interlinked and tend to reinforce one another.

1. Self-Empowerment

You’ll often hear people tell you to “grab life by the horns,” but what does that actually mean? Some might take it to mean you should energetically pursue the most exciting things life has to offer. Another way of thinking about it is that where life takes you is entirely up to you.

Self-empowerment, in this case, is the ability to take matters into your own hands and make things happen. Instead of idly dreaming about how cool it would be to become a doctor, you do the prep and take the classes that put you on that path. You’re able to define your purpose and set your sights on achievements. You press forward even when adversity slows you down.

2. Self-Control

While there’s an abundance of things to enjoy in life, many will get in the way of productivity and achievement. You will need self-control to focus on setting goals and developing plans that promote self-improvement. Otherwise, you might find yourself five episodes deep into the latest Netflix series instead of taking steps to pursue your dream of building your own business.

3. Renewable Vitality

To live life right, you will need to be physically capable of doing everything you set out to do. Your body’s vitality will be renewed when you exercise regularly, eat right and get sufficient sleep. 

You may have set admirable goals, such as consistently getting up early for work or regularly playing catch in the yard with your kids. Having renewable vitality means that you are in a state of perpetual readiness and physically able to meet life’s demands.

4. Emotion Mastery

We all know that life won’t always be a cakewalk. You may one day miss a promotion, fall short of a personal goal or even lose your job. When facing unplanned events like these, emotions are bound to run high.

However, if you don’t know how to control your emotions, you could easily end up spiraling. Productivity is likely to nosedive. You might even give up on your ambitions altogether.

A person in control of their emotions doesn’t allow a bad situation to throw them completely off course. Instead of losing your cool over a failed product launch, keeping a level head will enable you to learn what you can do better next time. Decisions made using data and a desire to improve will be much better than rash, spontaneous outbursts when emotions are running high.

5. Conscious Communication

Ask any married couple or team manager, and you’re likely to hear the same thing: Communication is key. Conscious communication begins with the act of listening to and understanding the thoughts and ideas of others. That conscious listening then enables you to clearly communicate your own thoughts, feelings and other responses to the other party. 

Conscious communication is one way effective leaders set clear objectives for their teams and help them deliver on expectations.

6. Smart Focus

Living a full life will require a certain level of efficiency. This efficiency becomes possible by maintaining smart focus. Smart focus can be defined as both the desire and ability to get things done in the most effective way possible.

A person who utilizes smart focus embodies the idea of working smarter, not harder. They maintain control of their time, follow daily habits geared toward productivity and use scheduling software to organize tasks and meetings. The more efficient you are, the more you can accomplish—and the more things you’re able to enjoy once the workday is over.

7. Learning and Adaptability

Life is unpredictable. Instead of trying to brace yourself for every possible outcome and worrying about made-up scenarios, learn how to roll with the punches. 

Most of the things we worry about will never happen. Wasting time and money preparing for phantom events makes no sense. Instead, being willing to learn on the fly and adapt to any situation can help you make the most of whatever life throws at you.

8. Constructive Thinking

Constructive thinking is another way of problem-solving. You may not always have someone to help you make decisions, especially as you carry out leadership roles in both your professional and personal life.

There’s a reason independent problem-solving is a featured item on so many job descriptions. Constructive thinking enables a person to see any situation from many different angles, quickly, and make reasonable decisions based on available information.
