This Weekend I Have … 20 Minutes, and I Cannot Watch Any More ‘Peppa’

When to watch: Now, on Disney Plus.
This Australian cartoon is geared toward preschoolers and is one of the sweetest — but not cloying — kid shows in ages. Bluey and her little sister, Bingo, have big imaginations, and luckily their parents love to join in on their games and adventures. The dialogue is loose and naturalistic, with a lot of genuine giggles, and the show has a happy playfulness that might be a temporary reprieve from cabin fever for children but could honestly be a welcome break for adults, too.

‘Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness’
When to watch: Starting Friday, on Netflix.
Narratively, this seven-part documentary is kind of a mess, but everything it depicts is so outrageous that it barely matters. Joe Exotic called himself the “Tiger King” and had private zoo of dozens of exotic animals kept in questionable facilities. He was eventually arrested on charges of attempted murder for hire, but somehow that is the least interesting development here — it has to compete with maulings, polygamist compounds, another possible murder, D.I.Y. music videos meant to mock said possible murder, unusual sexual arrangements, sundry drugs and violence, arson and, perhaps obviously, the desire for a reality TV show.

‘Party Down’
When to watch: Now, on Hulu.
Every time I have attempted to rewatch one or two “Party Down” episodes, I’ve wound up watching 10 and sometimes all 20 episodes instead. The show follows Los Angeles cater waiters, most of whom have bigger dreams and feel deeply stymied by their circumstances, particularly Henry (Adam Scott). There’s a lot of awkwardness and cringing, and also a lot of astute observation about what it’s like to be in the middle of what you hope is the worst time of your life. But funny!
