‘Black Monday’
When to watch: Sunday at 10 p.m., on Showtime.

This Wall Street comedy is set in the 1980s, and the era itself is one of the jokes of the show — the senselessness, the cocaine, the hairdos, the stupid TV shows, the cellphones the size of cinder blocks, the sexism, the racism, the lack of introspection. But, you know, funny. Very funny, in fact, and jokes sometimes fly by faster than they can register. In Season 2, Dawn (Regina Hall) and Blair (Andrew Rannells) have both ascended the ranks, but neither is as satisfied as they expected. If you like your comedies dynamic and clever, this is for you.

‘Marc Maron: End Times Fun’
When to watch: Now, on Netflix.

Marc Maron is comedy’s reigning expert on judgment — how people judge each other, how we judge ourselves, how we metabolize scorn and shame — and in this new stand-up special, he blends self-recrimination with a vision of Judgment Day itself. He curls up on a stool, ever the prickly sage, with jokes about sex and religion and growth, getting the audience totally on his side before segueing into a filthy, dazzling closing segment about the end of the world.

‘The French Chef’
When to watch: Now, on Amazon.

What a week, folks. If you are practicing some social distancing, or you just need to bring that stress level down, give yourself to Julia Child and her iconic show, Season 1 of which is streaming on Prime Video. Let your heart know the peace of watching her make French onion soup. Hear her say “quiche Lorraine” enough times, and a gentle joy will enter your bloodstream. Sauté a lobster, dot potatoes with butter — have one small thing be lovely and delicious, even just a half-hour at a time. This season aired in 1963, and a fun take-home assignment is thinking about how much cooking shows have and have not changed since then.
